U.K. Crash of the Month

I started the U.K. crash of the month at the request of several of my good friends on "the other side of the pond." Each month I will post a few photos and the what, when, where on a crash that I have come across while researching through microfilm. Hopefully some of the accidents I post will be new to the many researchers in the U.K. or at least bring some unknown photos to light.

AAIR is pleased to announce that it has been accepted to the British Aviation Archaeology Council as an associate member!

January 2000

On 12 APR 44 P-47D s/n 42-25530 collided with an RAF Spitfire 2 miles south of Felton, Northumberland while practicing a simulated strafing run on a convoy. Jim Corbet, right, recently rediscovered this crash site and you can visit his website, North East England Aircraft Crash Research, where you can see and learn more of this crash.

July 1999

B-24H s/n 41-29546 and B-24H 42-94868 collided 1 1/2 miles southeast of Station 124 (Tibenham/ Tivetshall) on 29 MAY 44.

July 1999

	Mid air collision between P-47D s/n 42-75101 (or s/n 42-75071 according to the photos) and P-47D s/n 42-7974 on 18 OCT 44 near Wellington Shropshire.

April 1999

	On 18 July 43, P-47D 42-7897 flew into a hillside in bad weather near Llangallen.

February 1999

P-47C s/n 41-6206 from STA 342 crashed 1 mile east of Condor Shropshire on 2 FEB 44.
